jonhall
I've been drifting without much modelling mojo for a bit, so in the absence of any great enthusiasm I've been building a few bufferstops from my own etches... 11
jonhall
The jigs are laser cut MDF, two layers, a thicker baseplate, and a 1mm layer to hold the rails I had originally intended to use the other jig first, but this seems to be the easier way. Rails cut to length and the flitch plates have the rivets punched out, and then the backs tinned. I then tend to start with the top one and then work from front to back (the photo showed up how wonky I got that front plate, so I went back and did it again! ) I then turned it over and used the other jig - this time without the infills And fitted the plates on the other side - I think this shows the drawback of doing it this way - these are a bit wonky as well - although what you are seeing is really blown up! The way I'd actually intended to work is to fit the tinned plates face down in the jig and solder the rail in from the back - this can be a little tricky to release from the jig, but they do tend to be squarer As it happens the combined thickness of both jigs is perfect for getting the angled plates square 8

JeffP
Is this 4mm? I'd be interested in that type of buffer in 7mm scale.
JohnH
Great work Jon - thanks for sharing. They look very good.

I have a few sets spare for £15 for 5 sets of etches and a set of jigs (provide your own rail and sleepers), but no great interest in become a manufacturer, so won't be rescaling mine. PHD does a version as well, maybe he could be persuaded to rescale those? Jon

Which didn't stop me from cutting a gap in another set built before realising the futility of the exercise! Jon
