Adding weight to Dapol's 43xx

Has anyone added weight to a Dapol ex GWR Mogul? Looking at the "cut away" image here

it would appear possible. A bit in the firebox top and (as I don't do DCC) a bit in the smoke box.

I did a first tryout on one of the three. I added a shaped "half moon" lead slug in the smokebox and

2 lead lumps 12 mm square x 4 under the cab floor. Also a Falcon pewter crew. This upped the weight by 26 grams.

It will now haul an extra 7 wagons.

 

In  the smokebox below the PCB there are moulded 2 rails. I fitted a plasticard spacer under these to avoid any possible shorts and made my lead slug to fit this void.
