Dixie Dean
Hi everyone Started my Power Pro Cab up today to do some test running and couldn't get it functioning correctly. It started by displaying the loco select screen, and then got stuck showing NCE PROCAB V1.3, CAB ADDRESS = 02. I couldn't get it to respond at all to any pressing of buttons. I placed a loco on the track and it tried to run off at a reasonably fast speed. Pressing any buttons on the handset didn't change the display or stop the loco running. Anyone come across this issue and suggest any fixes please? Thanks Dixie
BromsMods
Can you just clarify whether it is a PowerPro (with black box command station) or a PowerCab system you are using?
NIK
Hi, Assuming you have Pro Cab plugged directly into the command station: If it is a PowerPro (with black box command station) then the following sequence may help: Power down system. Touch something that is grounded such as a nearby radiator. Unscrew lid of black box command station. Push down on daughter board that plugs into big circuit board underneath. Put lid back on. Power up and check Pro Cab display. Power down and screw lid back on. Regards

Dixie Dean
Mine doesn't appear to have a plug in board. The upper board is physically bolted to the lower board. I did try making sure everything was connected properly, but unfortunately, it was just the same on re-assembly. Does anyone have any other thoughts? RMweb Premium Ray H Posted May 7, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 7, 2022 Dodgy cable? Try detaching the ProCab throttle lead from the handset. Next depress and keep depressed the Select Loco button whilst you plug the ProCab bag in. The display should then show the Cab No. flashing. Release the Select Loco button and change the Cab No. to 3 (for example) and press Enter. From memory you should now be able to unplug the ProCab again and immediately re-connect it. I think you may also be able to simply press the Esc key after you pressed Enter but I can't remember with any certainty.

Solved ... the above was nearly correct. I also removed the upper board completely (by undoing the screws holding in the serial port connector and pulling off the tie holding the rear of the upper board to the lower board) and re-seated the upper board into the connector to the lower board and .... it worked correctly again! Thanks everyone for your input - got there in the end All replies very much appreciated!! Edited May 8, 2022 by Dixie Dean
