RMweb Gold TravisM Posted June 5, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 5, 2022 (edited) After a somewhat 10 year hiatus, I've decided to dabble in a US layout after going to the Sleaford MRC exhibition yesterday and picking up a Atlas ATSF U23B in yellow warbonnet for a ridiculous low price. If I build a layout, it's going to be based on the Santa Fe, in 1980, west Kansas, where at the time, U23B's, GP38's and GP39-2's ruled local freight's on both the main and branch lines. I've decided on this location and date because that was the year I first went back to the US since 1964, to visit relative's in Kansas. The loco I bought was a Atlas 8691 GE U23B in ATSF yellow warbonnet and numbered 6310. I assume due to it’s age, the decoder has to be hard wired, but does anyone know if it can be sound fitted? If so, can anyone suggest a suitable decoder, speaker and sound file? Edited June 5, 2022 by jools1959 Additional info
