The view of the Dog Inn when coming down the steps from the footbridge . Manor House Lane is directly ahead, over Marsh lane, then leading to Old Church Road and Giles off licence at the top. I’m trying to date the photo, it doesn’t appear that the garage to the left is yet in operation. The swan neck street light I believe is electric . The legend Ansells appears to have been freshly painted on the roof of the Dog covering up the previous owner…so my guess forties early fifties ?

photos of diesels at Water Orton. The two class 37 are pictured taking the fast line to the east of the station. The other photographs are taken at or near the platform  end to the west of the station . 
The photo of the class 56 in winter shows beyond it the embankment and houses of Mercer Avenue. The stowage sidings part of the yards had been situated below on the land between the loco and the embankment. The brick building in the  foreground it built on the track bed of the line into the small station goods yard.

 

class 47 dragging electric and train through on a Trent valley diversion no doubt.

More diesels same location East jct…different seasons…to see a peak clatter over that jct again…

Some more class 24 and 25s…the former class being allocated to western division lines were rarer through the station

Model DMus at Water Orton, class 120, 101 and three car cravens. All of these types regularly worked through, although not during the same era.

Diesels at Water Orton 1981…class 47 pulling an electric ( just realised already posted the 47 photo….it was a double header mind…

More diesel photos at the station. The Cravens unit taken in 1968, the peak slightly later.

A photo just found, very topical given the recent weather. The WD and 8F on freight departure lines. I could be wrong but unlikely to travel far light engine…most likely they will travel through the station having left freights in the yards. They would then use the crossovers at East Junction, and travel back to Saltley.
