diyceejay
Michael Harris talks about the colours of the Mk2 interiors in his fantastic book, but I'm unable to find any colour images of the as-built models. Can anybody provide an image of the Mk2d FO in colour before they were changed to the Mk2e rust/grey moquette also shown here?
RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted July 17, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 17, 2022 The ones on the WR were a fairly alarming orange colour with white cotton antimaccassars, but very comfortable; best coaches BR ever built and the last design where each seating bay had a window. No photos, though, sorry. Try looking for news colour photos from the period showing politicians or other forms of first class travelling celebs getting on or off trains; the background may show the seating through the windows. Don’t forget the glass was tinted!
Taigatrommel
Is this the colour you're looking for? It's from a Met-Camm pullman rather than Mk2. 1
BernardTPM
Could be as the Met. Camm. Mk.1 Pullmans were re-seated in the late 1960s to a 2+1 format in line with the Blue Pullmans and LMR Mk.2 Pullmans. Previously they'd had traditional (apparently refurbished) armchairs. Orange came in with the Mk.3 seated Mk.2f FOs.
diyceejay
I think the design is the same although Harris describes the upholstery as; ' a rather unappealing brown material'..... so I suspect this may not be the actual colour unless anybody can correct me? RMweb Premium Hal Nail Posted July 31, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 31, 2022 (edited) not this is it? Worth just putting "mk2 coach interior" in Google images - there are loads to flick through. Edited July 31, 2022 by Hal Nail
diyceejay
Found it....it is a rather unappealing brown. Check out this video on Youtube. It first appears at 2.50.
