KR models alert about phishing e-mail

I've received an e-mail advice from KR alerting us to a potential e-mail phishing scam using their name. Some KR customers alerted them to an e-mail requesting additional payment for delivery of one of their products. These are not from KR Models. They advise they only use Royal Mail or Canada Post for deliveries and do not ever request additional delivery charges. They do not use DPD, UPS, FedEx etc. They advise to ignore any such e-mail and delete it.

We've chased this up with KR Models and have the following reply:

We didn't have a data breach a while back, it was a system crash due to us migrating to our new platform. No data was lost or stolen, there is no link to our system crash and the phishing emails sent to customers.

These phishing emails have been happening for years, and they are very generic and vague emails asking customers to pay a service charge for delivery from various courier and delivery services. All information we hold is kept securely and safely, and we haven't had any kind of data breach since we have been operating.

Websites having issues when migrating to new platforms isn't exactly unheard off. It can happen to the best of us.
