RMweb Gold kipford Posted October 7, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 7, 2022 (edited) The South Hants Model Railway Club will host the annual Portsmouth Model Railway Exhibition on Saturday 19th November 2022 at: Admiral Lord Nelson School on Dundas Lane, Portsmouth, PO3 5XT Opening time between 10:30 and 16:30. As usual we have a carefully chosen selection of top-class model railway layouts and demonstrators, supported by a loyal band of traders and ‘gauge’ societies. There is limited parking at the school, but we hope to have access to the car parks of some local business and the Ocean Retail Park opposite the school has free unlimited parking (except for McDonalds which has a time limit). We are aware that money is tight for many people and we have kept our admission prices low at £6 for adults with accompanied children (under16) going free. RMweb Gold kipford Posted November 3, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 3, 2022 Only a couple of weeks to go and things are all shaping well. To try and temp a few of you to come along to the show. Here are some Photos of Harlyn Pier, it is one of my favourite layouts with great atmosphere and beautiful attention to detail. PenrithBeacon
Last year there was an issue with refreshments, has this been resolved, please.
RMweb Gold kipford Posted November 4, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 4, 2022 David Catering arrangements are as follows: Main school restaurant will be open from 10:30 until 13:00, so you will be able to get a meal up until 13:00. After that the small coffee shop (which was closed last year due to work being carried out in the school) will be open until 16:00 serving drinks and snacks. Whilst this is not ideal and it is an improvement, we are limited by what the school is willing to provide. 1

ColinW
An excellent exhibition put on by South Hants MRC. High quality layouts, and was worth the trek from Kent for the show👏👏 Colin 1
Foulounoux
Wife and I enjoyed it this morning crowded when we arrived but then became less so Favourite for me was Bottom Works Siding...the YouTube videos don't do justice to how great it is in such a small space Only observations from the wife is why are so many of the exhibitors apparently so miserable 🤐 The only operators that seemed to smile were bottom works and rossiter rise She said I thought its supposed to be a hobby not a punishment I'm saying nothing Positive for her were the strategic chairs allowing her to rest. chrisf
I had intended to be there but my legs are not working very well at the moment. This is singularly unhelpful when it comes to driving about 100 miles each way and walking round a show. All being well, I intend to be there next year. RMweb Gold bcnPete Posted November 19, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 19, 2022 (edited) Attended the show for the first time today and have put next year’s date in the calendar already. Terrific show with great quality layouts and good mix of trade. Great to see Wheal Elizabeth back out on the circuit again in BR blue mode. Thank you to all involved for making it an enjoyable day out and worthwhile drive from SW London 👌 Edited November 19, 2022 by bcnPete
RMweb Gold kipford Posted November 20, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 20, 2022 On behalf of the SHMRC I would like to thank all the exhibitors, traders and of course the general public who attend our show yesterday. Numbers were slightly down on last year, some rail disruption and a problem with it being late into the Railway Modeller may not have helped, but it was still very busy. Everyone we spoke to, Layouts, Traders and the visitors all seemed to have enjoyed themselves. The only adverse comments as usual being the school refectory stopping serving food early, which is something we do not have any control over. We think the choice of layouts presented something for everyone to enjoy along with a nice, varied selection of trade support. A couple of weeks to get over the show (we are also taking Hope-under-Dinmore to Manchester in three weeks time) and we resume planning for next years show, which layout wise is pretty much there. Anyway thanks to all again and see everyone same place on Saturday 18th November 2023. 3

The funny part about that was when an announcement was broadcast that the canteen shuts at 1pm prompt, the hall more or less emptied out…. Anyway, next years date is in my diary, it was worth the trip over from the IOW. Brian
