RMweb Gold 5BarVT Posted November 20, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 20, 2022 I have a Bachmann double track tunnel portal (the one with two single bores) on order which should arrive by next weekend. But being an impatient sort (!) I would like to get on with detailed track design before it arrives. Does anyone know what the track centres of the two portals are? Thanks, Paul. Butler Henderson
Hattons have a photo with a ruler in front one https://www.hattons.co.uk/52774/bachmann_branchline_44_228_low_relief_double_track_tunnel_portal_175_x_10_x_94mm/stockdetail Its the third photo
RMweb Gold 5BarVT Posted November 20, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 20, 2022 Many thanks. I’d tried searching on Hattons as I hoped they would have such a photo. You are obviously much better at using their search engine! Many thanks, Paul.
RMweb Gold 5BarVT Posted November 21, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 21, 2022 Scaling off an angled photo (which I knew was prone to error) I got dimensions across the base (mm) of: 32+49+10+54+29~174mm (rounding errors!) Giving track centres of 59/62/64mm depending on which combination of incorrect numbers I use. With a straight on view the equivalent numbers are: 29+50+18+49+29=175mm and track centres of (probably) 68mm. Well accurate enough for track base cutting. Paul. smokebox
67mm is the standard spacing for set track from Hornby and Bachmann and probably some others too

Ties it all together. Paul.
