I’ll let the techies go into full detail, but look at this picture..

The fireman has his hands on the handrail of the tender, which is a BR1G tender.

if you look at this model of 73050, the handrail extends from cab roof to floor as part of the loco body

This was the incorrect body for a BR1G, and was more suited to a BR1 tender which didnt have handrails, and hence were fitted to the back cab of the loco, as seen in this picture here

There are other differences amongst standard fives, including tenders, and whistles ( and caprotti versions not yet modelled).

There is a wiki page detailing which loco to which tender here

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BR_Standard_Class_5

The correct body for 73050 looks like this.. (weathered and non-weathered versions exist)… see picture 3 for best effect.

The tender supplied with the original 73050 was a BR1a which was also incorrect.

The incorrect loco bodies tend to be widely available cheaply, and make good renumber candidates as its only the number thats wrong. The lined BR1a however is wrong for a 5MT.

if you want a good read about subtle differences of tenders, this page is quite good..

its interesting Bachmann made a BR1a, considering they dont make a loco for it to join to.
