Riverossi Bigboy chassis

Hi all,

I was wondering if any one here knows where I might be able to get hold of the chassis for a 1970s Riverossi Bigboy. The one on my mine gave up the ghost to mazac rot many years ago. It is still in its plastic case and complete. I would love to get it running again as I have had this engine since the mid 1970s.

The company failed in the nineties and eventually became part of the Hornby empire. More information is available here:

There is also a 'cure' for zinc pest involving nasty chemicals. A knowledge of Italian is advisable however.

Google translate is useful or, if in doubt, just ask here.

EDIT

Looking at the site I found a video of a Rivarossi Big-Boy hauling 110 (I didn't count them - just took their word for it!) Rivarossi freight cars. These are not the champions in free running either!

Hi folks,

Thanks for the info. Yes it had amazing haulage capacity. I had it pulling 30 of the old Triang boxcars and caboose when it was working. I eventually got a rake of 30+ mid 1970s bogie coal hoppers for it. I still have them in a box somewhere in the attic. Pulled them with ease as well.  Sadly that was a long time ago.
