D1059
I would like to build up a rake of 10ft WB 27t Iron Ore Tipplers as used for aggregates traffic in the 70s I’m happy to use the Peco kit, and years ago mounted a few on Peco 10ft WB chassis, but the brake gear is incorrect. The correct chassis should be as below https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/ironoretipplermsv Does the 2mm Society do that chassis as a kit please ? I can see a 10ft 8 shoe chassis kit listed, but am unsure if it’s this one Many thanks Edited March 31, 2023 by D1059
yaxxbarl
Steve, 2-357 looks the closest - though you will have to pay attention to which wagons you model as some have V-hangers shaped like that on 2-357, such as https://zenfolio.page.link/89ukr and https://zenfolio.page.link/ajKav Others have a more conventionally shaped v-hanger, still off centre though, such as https://zenfolio.page.link/vnqTt Cheers, John

The brakes were slightly different on the two sides, and that version with offset hangers was the most common variant for these tipplers ( An illustrated History of BR Wagons, Vol 1, D Larkin et al). Mark Saunders
The 27 ton is unfitted with the taller body and the fitted one is 26.5 ton with the lower body. in between are also variants on the height and wheelbase; to confuse!
garethashenden
There is also a Stephen Harris kit if you don’t want to use the Peco body.
Matt.S.
The harris kit is the rolls royce solution.
andy stroud
I am attempting a rake of these. Based on the 2-357 chassis with stratchbuilt bodies of both brass and plasticard although as Eileens has gone I not sure where to get the square stantion rod from now so rest will all be plastic bodies. I am aiming for a rake of 30 for my WR 70s layout but so far have finished 11 wagons. 14
D1059
Thanks guys. I will have a look at the Steve Harris kit. Andy, yours look superb. TBH I think in N that the difference in body height won’t be too noticeable, certainly less than having incorrect brake gear
