JZ
I picked up a brass loco, but the paint has been affected by the foam it was stored in. What is the best method? I have never stripped a brass model before. With plastic, I have used Modelstrip, Mr Muscle Oven cleaner and IPA. Would any of these attack the brass or solder? Would Nitromors be too powerful. Hibelroad
I’ve used cellulose thinners on my own kit built and soldered models, works a treat. Would not be any good if there are any plastic parts or glue though.

Wheatley
Another vote for cellulose thinners, but only if you're sure there's no plastic, and no epoxy used in construction. Nitromors makes a right mess.
JZ
Overnight soak in cellulose thinners, soft wire brush, the two 8 minute spells in an ultrasonic bath. Thanks for the tip guys.
