Manning Wardle F class 0-4-0T dimensions

"locomotive Builders of Leeds: E B Wilson and Manning Wardle", by Mark Smithers, has a drawing of an F class. It shows a 4'9" wheelbase, and 2'9 3/4" wheels. This is a 1912 example, and the caption notes 'redesigned mainframes', so earlier examples may have been different. The book has several photos of F class MWs, including the Wantage Tramway no.7.

Thanks Marc. I had wondered if the Slaters 7mm  MW F (pictures below) could be made into this - an Irish Hunslet of that era which had 3’2 drivers and a 5’8 wheelbaseIMG_7957.jpeg.06b65cc00a30f2a5346251eff4da1d06.jpeg

13 built to either NG or BG (NG listed in vol1 and BG listed in Vol3) I dont have vol3 to see where the BG ones went.

 

basic F class dimentions

cylinders 10 by 16

wheel OD 2ft9

WB 4ft9

boiler OD 2ft7

boiler length 7ft11

LOB 16ft 1/4inch

 

common changes

3ft wheels

2ft10 wheels

cover plates fitted over slidebars

volume of tank
