walrus
I’ve been using Maskol for a while now with mixed results. It masks well enough when in place but I find applying it very hit and miss. The main problem I have is that it solidifies before I can get it on the workpiece (I usually use a cocktail stick - I only tried a brush once 😕). Can it be thinned to slow solidification? Is there a better product out there?
Ian Rathbone
I use Copydex, the fabric adhesive. It is far better than Maskol in that it doesn’t degrade to a sticky mess after three days - you have two weeks. It is available in tubes from any hardware shop. michl080
I am using Schmincke 50.303 "Rubbelkrepp" which doesn't degrade, does not smell and can be removed quite easily. Apparently, it is free of ammonia https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/1763445208 I used it two day ago from a bottle that is standing on the shelf for two years now. durham light infantry
I use Mr Masking Sol R. You can leave it for ages and still remove it, unlike Maskol which is difficult to remove after about 3 days. There is Sol Neo too, but that is ammonia based.
walrus
Finally got round to trying Copydex and it works a treat. If/when the tube goes off I will give the Mr Hobby product a try as I’ve always been pleased with their other stuff. Thanks all for the advice.
