MatthewEWS
Hi all, After some advice for my modern image wagon works depot. All the points are to be fitted with hand levers rather than dummy motors, in a small yard environment, would you expect to see other items of equipment around them such as heaters, relay boxes, wiring etc or would it just be a lever? total novice when it comes to this sort of stuff but want to make it as realistic as possible! LBRJ
Just the lever, at least as far as any I have ever pulled, or seen.
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted August 30, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 30, 2023 It depends on tyhe yard. In the past apart from mechanisrd marshalling yards all the points in teh yard are would normally be worked by their own handlever - so no need for anything else. Some modern depots have centralised control and power worked points and signals but most, if not all, yards where shunting takes place - especially small yards - only have handpoints. Only the exit connection to a running line would be worked by either a signal box or ground frame. Go to page 68 in this thread to learn more about hand points - 1 1
