Lukas G.
I have ran into some issues with DCC programming some of my N gauge locos with the NCE Powercab system. Basically, every time I try to program the locos the powercab returns different information, including the decoder type, manufacturer and, more annoyingly, the address changes every time. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this or similar experience? Thanks.
RMweb Premium Dominion Posted October 9, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 9, 2023 The few times I have experienced something like that and wondered if it was the NCE throttle it always turned out to be a failed decoder or an installation/socket problem. Once it turned out to be a decoder I had bought by mistake that had no motor control, only functions. good luck with the issue. Tom
Lukas G.
Thanks for the insight. I think I'll try and check the connection between the decoder and socket on the locos, and if that doesn't work I may need to look for replacements.

I had something similar happen to me (I use NCE PowerCab). Turned out to be a Lais decoder that only used 2-bit addressing, so the ID was limited to up to 127. When I tried to set it to 8101 (Class 20 loco ...) I'd get a different number, less than 128. I swapped the decoder and all was well. Ian
