RMweb Premium peterm1 Posted October 21, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 21, 2023 As above, does anyone know if the speaker wires from the decoder have pos & neg'? The reason I ask is that I'm fitting two 8 Ω speakers in parallel and I want them to be in sync. One is a an electrostatic and the other a 28mm round. The round one has pos' marked but I'm not sure how to find the polarity for the other one.
NIK
Hi, I have my doubts that one is electrostatic. One way you might check if two conventional DCC decoder speakers are in phase is to connect the speakers in series and close together (DCC power off), play a moderately loud sound, turn off the power, swap one of the speakers terminals round and play the sound again. Which ever arrangement gives the louder sound is the arrangement you should use (mark the terminals of the speaker without polarity markings to match the other one. RMweb Premium peterm1 Posted October 22, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 22, 2023 Thanks Nik. While the decoder's out of the loco, I'll try that.
RMweb Premium peterm1 Posted October 22, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 22, 2023 Yep, I wired it in to my MXTAPS and found the difference in volume. Thanks again.
