BACHMANN COLLECTORS CLUB PAINTS THE TOWN RED THIS WINTER

As part of Bachmann Europe’s Winter British Railway Announcements, the Bachmann Collectors Club has today unveiled three new Limited Edition models which are available exclusively to Club members.

Following the upgrades to the Graham Farish N scale Ivatt 2MT to allow SOUND FITTED models to be offered for the first time, the Club’s next N scale model has been revealed as No. 46441 in BR Lined Maroon livery. The real locomotive was saved for preservation by Dr Peter Beet and was based at Steamtown Carnforth until the 1990s. Receiving its BR Lined Maroon livery with Late Crests in 1992, No. 46441 operated on the mainline and preserved railways until 2002 when it went on static display at the Ribble Steam Museum. Today the locomotive is under restoration at the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway.

The Bachmann Collectors Club Limited Edition is available now in standard format or with SOUND FITTED. Both versions are adorned with many separately fitted details, and feature NEM coupling pockets, a pre-fitted speaker and a Next18 DCC interface. SOUND FITTED models are fitted with a Zimo MS590N18 sound decoder allowing realistic sounds to be enjoyed straight out of the box when used on both DCC and analogue control. In total just 500 models have been made and members will benefit from a reduced price (10% below the RRP for an equivalent main range model) meaning that standard models (372-625K) can be
purchased for £148.46, whilst the SOUND FITTED version (372-625KSF) is available at £238.46.

For OO scale the BR Mk1 POT Post Office Stowage Van is the subject of the next Collectors Club release with two models available in original Post Office Red livery. The new models form the perfect companion to the Post Office Sorting Vans, both with and without nets, previously released in the Bachmann Branchline range and allow impressive TPO trains to be assembled for the first time. Although the specific diagram of vehicle depicted by the Bachmann Branchline model did not carry this livery in service, Bachmann has been inundated with requests for models in this original colour scheme and these new models answer these
calls. Just 504 of each model has been made and these carry the running numbers W80423 (39-770K) and W80417 (39-771K). Again, each model is priced at 10% below the standard RRP for an equivalent model, resulting in a selling price of £58.46.

With all of these models in stock now, existing members can order the new models online via www.bachmann-collectorsclub.co.uk. New members can also join online and purchase from the growing range of Club exclusive models straight away. Orders and membership enquiries can also be made by telephone on 01455 245565.

Very nice they are to. Good colour match with Modelzone and Bachmann POS releases, although weirdly the lower lining is at a different height, which is a shame. (If you are making a fictitious livery, you have the latitude to match it up to previous prototypical iterations!).

The b5 bogies are a step up from the previous B4 moulds, is is the underframe and eth cable detail. I both wish Bachmann would refresh its entire Mk1 range to this standard, and also know I could not afford to replace my extensive collection if they did!

I have fitted B4 bogies to my other POS (and intend to on the one pictured) but now the ride height against the POT is just awful, so I will have to modify the bogie top to lower it as with a complete rake it is just going to look ridiculous (about 1.5mm difference, entirely due to the old B4 bogie design from Bachmann). While I'm about it I might modify the bottom 'bar' on the B4 to get it closer to a B5.... but that's getting OT
