Andrew Cockburn
One or two pictures of a model diorama I completed today in N Gauge, representing part of the former Hetton Colliery Railway line in Sunderland. 11
The Bandit
Looks good - well done. Did you use a box file?
Andrew Cockburn
@ The Bandit. No, I used a scrap piece of plywood (or something similiar) for the base, though the "fascia" surround, made from card, does give the impression that the model is built inside a box. Dunalastair
Nicely neglected look, with the check rail so often forgotten, and an interesting prototype system if I've got it right. As well as arguably the earliest use of steam traction - continuing to closure in 1959 - there was also rope working. This document illustrates what seems to be a distinctive NCB diesel. And one section where there used to be a power station even used a steeple cab electric locomotive, with a complex wiring arrangement where it crossed the Corporation tramway. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=2173816155964182&set=pcb.2173819325963865 The Hetton Colliery Locomotive might not be quite as old as once thought, but might offer an interesting modelling challenge - especially in N gauge, where perhaps the valve gear might have to be static. https://www.railwaymuseum.org.uk/about-us/press-office/myth-hetton-engine-solved So lots of scope!
