Tim-Hale
Hi, I am becoming frustrated by the cost of personal imports from the EU, this simple kit is just €13 but an additional €55 for uninsured shipping from an Italian publishing house. Is anyone aware of a more reasonable source? Thank you, Tim

RMweb Premium DIW Posted November 12, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 12, 2023 (edited) The folk at the Italian Railway Society may be able to help with your query. They used to sell TTM kits on their stand when they were at the Eurotrax (?) exhibitions in Southampton, years ago. RMweb Premium 5944 Posted November 13, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 13, 2023 Tecnomodel in Livorno often sell them. Looks like they have some in stock at the moment. I believe it's free postage over €100 as well, though obviously there's the VAT issue to consider as well. https://www.tecnomodel.it/b/scala-h0/rotabili-in-kit/7 Alternatively, I believe someone in the Italian Railway Society coordinates orders from Duegi Editrice, so a few members spilt the €50/€70 postage between them to make it a bit more acceptable.
Tim-Hale
Hello, By happenstance, last night I found TecnoModel on the internet and placed an order for TTM #7, their shipping cost were less than €20 and the promise delivery before the Chrimbo rush. The surge of interest was spurred by a thread on HiFo which featured images of both the last remaining standard gauge Mallet at work in Regensberg and one of these iconic vehicle languishing in a siding, couldn’t resist the temptation to find an excuse for my own example on Pottendorf. FS vans were once regular visitors to all sorts of odd places in Southern Germany, possibly, due to the regular traffic in perishables. Tim-Hale
Here it is, It is not an ‘easy’ kit but it is impressive and unobtainable as RTR, it will just look pretty parked on Pottendorf. Tim
Tim-Hale
It needs Kadees and some Liquid Lead, otherwise it is ready for service on Pottendorf Thank you for your patience Tim
RMweb Premium 5944 Posted February 11 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 11 Did you replace the wheels at all or just use the plastic ones that came with it? I fitted a batch of TTM kits I made with Alan Gibson 10.5mm lowmac wheels, but the holes had been drilled off-centre and the wagons wobbled horrendously. I'm not sure what I replaced them with, I have a feeling they're Lilliput ones.
