Popular Post durham light infantry
I had an eureka moment Christmas morning, to use a pack of A1 10mm foamboard which I had in the house. Had the board built within days, and getting the rest of the track tomorrow. Hope to have it down and wired Sunday/Monday. 009 2'10" x 2'0" double sided. 18
durham light infantry
Quick gauging trial before taking the dogs out. It fits... First 009 in over 20 years. The bug has bitten again.

durham light infantry
Track laid and working on side 1, which will be a small halt and goods siding. Side 2 will be a mirror image but with a timber merchants yard. The bogie coaches will be replaced by 4-wheelers which will look better in the small space, but the bogie coaches do go round ok despite the sub 9" radius in places.
AndyB
I really like this and look forward to seeing the scenic treatment in due course. One thing I'd like to ask is how you managed to get such precise straight cuts on the foam board? I can't see any gaps or wobbles. All very impressive! Cheers. No secret just a sharp Stanley knife onto a hard surface ( the iKea table top which is the next 009 layout). I use a rigid knife (not the retractable type) against a long steel straight edge, and change the blade as soon as I feel it start to drag. The radiused corners are done with an Olfa compass cutter and sharp scalpel. The radiused corners look a lot better, and they provide support for the lighting fascia which is also stock storage. The carrying holes have been reinforced with a plastic U section, making them much stronger. Once the scenics have been completed I will overlay all the exposed surfaces with Holly Green mount board.
