RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted February 12 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 12 John Allen’s G&D captured on film. For those not aware it was an early example of an immersive floor to ceiling railroad with operation of trains from point to point. Destroyed in a fire 51 years ago shortly after John passed away in 1973 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorre_%26_Daphetid 4 5

It would be great for it to be properly telecined to HD video.

RMweb Premium BR60103 Posted February 13 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 13 John was a professional photographer. He took a close-up photo of a friend's locomotive and told him "Every place where you can tell it's a model is a chance to improve your modelling." He also had a wicked sense of humour. He did ads for one of the model companies that included scenes like the lynching of a diesel salesman. And G&D #13 was a dinosaur for switching in the yards.
