geoffers
Was really looking forward to this show but on accessing the site for advanced tickets noticed the comment that there was no parking at the Academy this year. With a 2.5 hour and 110 mile drive I didn't really fancy faffing about finding parking in the town and then hunting for a bus. So sorry I won.t be there this year. Hope it all goes well. Modelrailwayquest
The venue is at the edge of town so hopefully there will be lots of on street parking around the school. Maybe worth doing a Google map search of local roads to see if any parking restrictions. I don't know venue but I did do the same search to find parking Sat eve in the centre of the town to get something to eat and find any live music venues. geoffers
Thank you for that. From memory, after attending last year and driving through some residential areas to get to the Academy, the parking was "residents only". Driving is the easiest way for me to attend as it will be a much longer travel time if going by train (Norwich, Peterborough, Stamford ,or Norwich, London, Stamford), more expensive, and would best be served by an overnight stay in or around the town. So the wimp in me has chickened out. What the reason for the lack of parking is I don't know and won't speculate but I really hope this doesn't affect attendance because I really enjoyed the show last year. Hopefully some photos will be available later.
Modelrailwayquest
A few of the exhibitors and traders are coming with me for a drink after the show on the Saturday eve from 5.30pm to about 7pm in the centre of Stamford at the gorgeous 13th century inn, The Tobie Norris, 12 St Pall Street, PE9 2BE. It serves numerous guest real ales and recommended parking is at the nearby North Street Car Park, if having a Cola. Any last minute local show goers who fancy popping along, love to see you. I liked the biscuit factory layout and the broken biscuits. It reminded me that when we were very young our grandmother worked in and lived behind Crawfords biscuit factory in Liverpool and she often brought us boxes of broken biscuits whe she came to stay with us. 'A Cold Front' is superb and we had the pleasure of it being next to us at the Macclesfiled show. Edited May 15 by roundhouse
