trains12
Hi All I have been going through all the photos that Jamie has taken of the layout at the SSS111 show and they have shown a number of anomalies’ that will have to be rectified. They include gaps under some of the buildings, coaling stage etc and the removable water tower hiding the point motor near the station needs some attention to make it seat better. The level crossing gates should have two red round discs fitted. Have missed some stone walling of the platform edge. Missed painting the stairs in the Distillery as well has the glazing needs to be completed. The station building needs seating better. The list can go on for some time. It just goes to show that the close up shots can detect items that are missed by the eye when building. Any way these items will be rectified over the coming weeks with a few other minor improvements on the electrics and the operation side. The extension has all been drawn out and the new point work has commenced. Will post some more details in the next few days. trains12
Hi All Well here is the state of play with the pointwork for the new extention As can be seen most of the main sleepers have been struck down ready for the rail to be cut and soldered to them. Over the next wek this it is hoped will all be completed. In the mean time buildings are being completed on the drawing side and should be made a start on over the next few days. tender
Hi Peter. Where do you find the time?!? It's taken me all weekend just to lay 3 feet of flexi-track. At this rate your extension will be finished by the time I get round to the unit again. Anyway, here's a photo I took with my google phone yesterday. (that pin on the point motor could do with cutting back a bit) Ray. Edited May 7, 2012 by tender

RMweb Premium 45156 Posted May 19, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 19, 2012 Thanks for the photos, it's great to see this layout in running condition, and having followed it from its early days, I have to say that it has been an interesting journey. Are there any 4mm bottles of Glen Gillie yet - I long to taste the products of the distillery - shame it's imaginary stuff, but hey ho, I'll have a Glen Grant instead.

tender
Yep, the hut hiding the point motor/wiring is missing. What software did you use for the track plan Jamie? No visit to the unit this weekend, went off to LYDCC exhibition at the Museum of Transport, Manchester. Didn't intend to buy anything other than odds and ends but couldn't resist another west country class in Southern Malachite. Immediately passed it on to Steve at Grimy Times opposite for him to work his magic with a renaming/numbering job - 21C141. Should be ready for collection at Wigan, just in case I need an excuse to go! Ray. Edited May 20, 2012 by tender
7APT7
Hi Ray... Nice to hear from you... I do have 'Any Rail 4 EN' Software, but I have templates for all Peter’s sizes boards already setup in Paint Shop... Just normal .JPeg files, I tend to cut and paste from previous Layouts I have done for Peter... When you next down the unit dude...??? Peter bought his Class 70 Modern image down and got some pictures to upload of the class 70 later... it ran so smoothly straight out the box... unlike Hornby... haha... I was impressed... I must have had a setting on my camera set wrong as I had to delete a few photos... I'll get them uploaded next... Jamie
trains12
Hi all Well while Jamie has been down loading the photos I have been making the new bridge for the halt on the new extenstion. It is being made from two old Hornby foot bridges and will connect the halt to the ruined castle above the tracks on the hill side. Also work is about to commence on some of the other new buildings. Will take some shots of these in the next day or so and post them. Cheers Peter
