Suitability of piano wire

Hi Derek,

Just wondering whether your product PWS081A/B would be a suitable replacement for the steel wire provided with Tortoise point motors, the object being to provide a bit more 'ooomph' when moving the blades up above.

The Tortoise wire seems only slightly thinner than 0.81mm (haven't measured it as yet), so perhaps the 1.0mm wire - PWS100A/B might be more suitable?

I'm hoping to pick some replacement wire up from you at Wells, depending on your recommendation!

Many thanks.

Many customers buy PWSxxx as replacement for Tortoise operating wire, the thickness and hence strength depends on length, gauge and other factors. The choice is really yours.

A 1mm piano wire works great in the Tortoise. Been there. You will have to gently open out the hole in the actuator bit and the fulcrum to accomodate the thicker wire. The Tortoise instructions have a section on replacing the wire for larger scales.
