Indian Railways NDM6

Recommended Posts

Arriving on my WB soon is the Worsley Works DHR NDM6 (7mm:1' scale).

The intention is to build it along with a handful of wagons so that the Inglenook can be changed to be DHR.

Transfers for the Hindi script?

A thought has crossed my mind - does anyone do a DCC sound project for this loco? If not does anyone have any sound recordings that could be used to create a sound project?

Hi there,

I've hunted and hunted but so far can't discover just what engine would have been fitted to these charming locos!

I started hunting as I thought "Aha! India = Alco!" but no proof at all so far, in fact I think my initial thought was probably a red herring!

Have you seen: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/mdltrly/ndm6.html

The loco builders: http://www.san-engineering.com/ - possibly contact them to ask what engine was fitted!

Of course, there is always YouTube to check out for the sound of them!

Sorry I can't be of any more help!

John E.

AMJ - can I suggest a look here http://www.carendt.u...e86a/index.html approx half way down the page (see the other liks in the thread) - I'm sure that Carl will forward an email to Alexander for you - he may be able to give you some information on how he made his signs

Edit - not sure why, but it seems to have lost half the post - look here for the right sort of sound for steamers, and you will find some photos here http://darjeelingtrainz.com/ where a virtual version has been created. There is also a lady modeller in UK who has done a model of the line - possibly in OO9 - maybe one of the members of the society can put you in touch

Some photos of an OO9 version here http://bertslocopain...ld-to-sell.html

Sound of an NDM6 is hrere http://www.youtube.c...h?v=RNUwm0EuZSg

Some photos used for the Trainz simulation here

There is a lady here in UK (possibly a member of the OO9 society) whose name I cannot remember, who was building a model of the DJH RR - one of the members may be able to help

The following link may help to identify the power unit in an NDM6

http://www.irfca.org...-mg.html#ngloco

although it probably does not help to identify the right kind of noise!

I assume that you will be doing yours with wheels????????????

3 mins to 4 mins into this you tube vid is amazing, - are those two guys the guards, on the tiny flat truck, at the rear, and look at the white, closed, parasol between them, then to cap it all, a reckless motorist crashes into the loco at a level crossing. I had to watch this part of the video twice, to make sure I wasn't dreaming, you couldn't make it up !!

Thanks for info. Tonight I'll be watching the 2hr long Graham Whistler DHR DVD at work for inspiration.

My wheels will be coming from Oz (advertiser on here) via Charlie (DC Kits) when I have measured the drawings.

I have a copy of Iron Sherpa (pt 1 & 2) at home and it's got an Indian built 6 cylinder engine

IRFCA as ever reveals it to be

Engine: Kirloskar-Cummins NTA 855L, 6 cylinders
