Wagon Books and Magazine Articles

Recommended Posts

I thought that it might be usefull to have a list on here of all the wagon books and magazine articles available in one place.

I know that this is a massive undertaking but if we pull together I'm sure that we can get close to a definative list over time.

Can we please stick to UK standard gauge on here, narrow gauge and overseas could possibly have their own threads if there is sufficiant interest.

My own library is limited but I'll make a start, please note that a lot of these are out of print!

As a foot note, if anyone has a copy of 'British Railways Engineer's Stock - 1 (Railways in Profile Series #8)' by G. Gamble (Cheona)* or the R. Tourret book on rail tanks (the exact name escapes me but it's recently been reprinted) then they'd be worth adding to the listings. There also a few Cheona books on more modern air braked stock that would be handy.

*If anyone has a spare copy of this then I'm more than interested! awesome.gif

Honeyball & Son 8 ton Coal Wagon; S.T. Turner; Morill Vol.2 No.12; desrription and drawing of an 1888 wagon

A bit of a mix here but organising magazine articles into type, period and company would be an enourmous task!

A laudable objective Paul - how are you planning to consolidate all the information, just an ongoing updated version of your OP based on other contributions?

Picking up on this point, it's clear from just the few posts so far that it's not a single definitive list but a whole host of mini lists. I think Mod6 (sir) is right and these perhaps need to be pulled together in a single list in the OP or added to an organised spreadsheet / PDF the can be downloaded as an attachment. Otherwise it will end up like looking for a needle in a haystack! Discuss.....

Don't get me wrong, great idea and worthy of being done but needs a bit of organising thought. Happy to add my SR books to a list.

My thought when I started this was that a thread full of mini lists are better than no lists at all.

However, the link given above by Paul and Max Stafford lists everything available anyway!

And theres also a list of magazine articles there. http://home.wtal.de/gueterwagen/litera2.htm#en

A Google for the ISBN for 'The First Half Million' led me to this...

Dave.

Good list - any idea what date it was done? There appear to be a few books I've bought in the last 18 months that aren't on there so I'm guessing it's at least that old. Just shows how many books have come out!
