What's next on the agenda for you?

The topics for Friday will involve epic literature of Weimar Classicism, Realist poetry of the 19th century, the genre of mirrors for princes in medieval literature as well as the legend of Iwein by Hartmann von Aue - this being part of the extended genre of King Arthur literature.

Good grief, perhaps you ought to get out more. Girls are good for taking your mind of such things....wink.gif

Edit:

Layout wise Don, I have been rewiring the lower levels to increase the bus from 1.5mm to 4mm and adding droppers to every piece of track. I want to make sure there are no issues at all once the next level goes in place. Normally I would wire each board before it's put in place and then simply link them together electrically. Because this is a rework exercise, I've spent hours on my knees or on my back underneath the boards. It's a long slog and my knees and back are knackered, so you can only do a couple of hours each day. I'll get there.....

"Must have been all those hours spent riding Shergar and Sam"

One at a time would probably be less taxing.

Anyone else thoroughly fed up with Winter?

I know BoD and others love it - I think my loathing of damp days without light stems from when my ancestors came over with the Romans. ;)

In that case it would not be his back that would be knackered!

I absolutely agree Gordon! Wiring beneath a board is absolute hell! Also seeing upside down, I get left and right, front and back totally confused! A recuperating drink is definately required afterwards.

Morning All,

I have taken a couple of days off to use up my leave - hence the somewhat later start this morning.

Glad to hear that things went well yesterday Dominik.

Good grief, perhaps you ought to get out more. Girls are good for taking your mind of such things....

Yes, but the trouble is that they are hard to find!

Have you tried Chiropractic manipulation?

Definitely to be recommended - but make sure it is a McTimoney Chiropractor. The McTimoney method is much more gentle than traditional Chiropractic work, and is also a whole body treatment. It could be that pain in the knee (for example) is nothing to do with the knee, and actually related to the pelvis (as it was in my case). A traditional chiropractor could have worked on my knee until doomsday and never solved the problem.

Have a good day everyone :icon_wave:

Morning All, I can see through the oktas to a blue sky for a change! Strangely still in these parts after some fairly strong winds over night.

Can't say I ever had a problem finding the girls. As Gordon says there are some distinctive features that I for one have always found tend to attract my gaze. Of course having found one there can then be serious challenges in progressing further...

Cheers

Dave

Good morning. Clear blue sky here, no clouds but it is a bit breezy. Gordon's bus will be handy if he ever needs to add an electric oven to his layout. All I've done this morning(apart from bin bag duty) is package up two dead decoders to take advantage of a well known "Goof Proof" warranty.

Matthew went off to college this morning clutching his UCAS form. He just has to get his personal tutor to approve it (check spelling etc) and then the college careers people assemble his bit and the references, fee gets paid and then I suppose he waits for offers, interviews etc. He has applied for Human Geography courses although one is Human Geography with Hindi. When I worked in a college there seemed to be some sense of urgency about university applications at this time of year. At Matthew's the main topics for tutorial at present seem to be attendance statistics, how to organise your personal finance and avoiding cyber-bullies.

Morning all!

After a very wet trip to Perth yesterday (and apart from walking through Waverley, saw very little in the way of railways), I'm with DDolfelin on winter... It's still www up here (nope, not worldwide web... wet, wild and windy...). Not looking forward to the 10-minute walk to work (which I've delayed slightly this morning due to yesterday's 11 hour working day...

Dominik - I did a module during my French degree course on The Chivalric Romance and World of Arthur - including the Lais of Marie de France, and Chretien de Troyes' Arthurian Romances. Always an area I found really interesting. I wasn't aware of German versions of the Arthur stories as well, but given they started in England and France in the 13th century (I seem to remember the name Geoffrey of Monmouth as well...), I shouldn't be surprised that there are German ones as well...

Morning everybody!

Strange you should mention that; I went to a traditional chiropractor with shoulder problems. First thing he did was two X-rays, front-back and side-side. He told me why I had shoulder problems and then asked if I also had knee trouble, which I did (like you - pelvic and lower spine!). So he sorted both out for me in one treatment! He also used 'Applied Kinesiology' techniques to test me for allergies! This was in the early 80's and, unfortunately, the cause of the knee trouble has recently re-presented itself with sciatica-like symptoms, so I'm off to the chiro again soon! I'm fortunate in that my GP is the local sports injury specialist and is also chiropractic-friendly, so he's already confirmed the manipulations I need!

Happy pivot day!

Morning - still wild here in Lancaster, wet and windy like a baby's bottom.

Many thanks to those who have offered advice on alternative therapy for the frozen shoulder - my GP has told me that the next step is a surgeon, but he's quite amenable to the less "conventional" routes, so I may well ask if he knows of a suitably qualified chropractor - honestly, some days I would go to a witch doctor if I thought it would help!

I hope I've sent a thanks acknowledgement to everybody who replied, apologies to anybody that I missed.

Keep plugging away with the exams, Dom, qualifications are a wonderful and useful thing.

Are you the 5th from the left in the check shirt?

Just wanting to put a face to a name! :)

Don:

Guy in the check shirt is Claude_dreyfus. GrahamK is 3rd from the left.

On the Warley thread, page 10, post 249 gives the list of names as we have established them so far!

Having found somebody myself, I agree that what I found will be impossible to best. So, stop seducing me, guys! Tsk, tsk...

Firstly, sorry for not taking part in discussion for a few days, but I have been watching.

Secondly, Well done Dominik and good luck for the next exams. The best bit of advice I ever received was to spend the previous night relaxing, perhaps delving into the hobby, or sat on the couch with a hot chocolate.

I'd certainly love to get to Warley one year though, looks like you all had a good time!

Hopefully I'll be able to make more progress on the layout soonish, I need a break from college work!

John, did you buy anything at Warley?

funny, that's what I said too! :icon_thumbsup2:

Yes, but not enough to make the rucksack look like I was more than 2 weeks pregnant! Apart from sustenance, just a couple of Drivers' Eye videos of the Tube.

I can't remember who told me, I think it was my French teacher - certainly a good bit of advice though

You haven't got some kind of modelling project up your sleeve have you ;) The 2010 Tube challenge?
