Guest 838rapid
If smoke cam out that sounds more like a decoder issue. Recomend contacting Hornby customer service 01843 233525 http://www.Hornby.com/customer-support/

RMweb Premium 7013 Posted October 31, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 31, 2010 Sounds like a case of sending it back to Hornby, I had issues with a King Arthur which was about a year old, I had to return it a few times to get it sorted (Hornby put a new chassis on it eventually). They even paid all my postage back to me, superb service.
Redditch 34
I will just the loco still runs fine i assumed if it was the decoder it would have last all its functions
Guest 838rapid
Sounds like it could be the sound amplifier that has burnt out. The loco will still run like this. Best to let Hornby sort it under warrenty
mattog
I had a Black 5 that blew a sound decoder. Just went pop and then no sound. It was a capacitor evidently. I have photos of the damage if you're interested. Fortunately Hattons replaced it though Hornby would have honoured it too.
