RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted November 8, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 8, 2010 Due to Wales playing rugby against Australia (16-25), in the Millenium stadium, Arriva Trains Wales ran a rugex using the WAG stock in top'n'tail mode, went out for this and also got a poor shot of the RHTT (the sun came out, directly behind it, just as it got to me ) First a hippo B) 175112 on 1H83, 07:45, Llandudno - Manchester Piccadilly and another 175107 on 1W82, 05:21, Cardiff Central - Holyhead And then a 158 heads into the very strong sun 158838 on 1G20, 07:15, Holyhead - Birmingham International with a Voyager chasing it's tail 221142, Matthew Flinders, on 1A70, 07:55, Holyhead - London Euston A "halo effect" hippo heads down the coast. 175114 on 1D32, 07:50, Manchester Piccadilly - Llandudno Followed by the mucky brothers - 66105 and 66101 on 3S71, 23:43, Crewe IEMD - Crewe IEMD via Shrewsbury/Moreton-on-Lugg,Bidston,Shrewsbury,Crewe and Holyhead and a minute late the wagrug headed the opposite way 57315 and 57313 on 1V77, 08:08, Holyhead - Cardiff Central Ruggex (Wales 16 - Australia 25, Millenium Stadium) I dropped my lad off at Flint as I was heading over to Crewe Basford Hall and he wasn't coming 158830 on 1D11, 07:09, Birmingham International - Holyhead - departing under a LNWR footbridge and another hippo arrives under the same bridge 175110 on 1H84, 08:45, Llandudno - Manchester Piccadilly An LMS footbridge, provided in the 1930s when the level crossing was closed, the infil on the right hand platform marks the site of the LMS signal box, closed in the 1980s, the rods and wires passing under the platform. The goods shed also still survives. T-T 1990 iirc, I was there, and if I'd had some tools with me, a lot of it would have been preserved - the S&T gave me permission to take whatever I wanted but with no tools I couldn't get anything (the diagram had already gone).
