LNWR Loco

Midland Railway, the number is that of a 1698 Class loco, built as a mineral engine so it is probably the correct number.

Original built at Derby between September 1887 and January 1888, usually known as 2F locos.

Some of the class survived to BR days. This one became 58246 and survived until June 1959 if my references are correct.

Like many Midland locos they were subject to rebuilds, often with different types of boiler and boiler mountings, to ascertain whether the appearance is correct for any specific LMS period you would really need to find a photo of the loco! On this class the brake pull rods were on the outside of the loco wheels.

I think the loco is from a K's kit, so it might be a "bit generic".
