RMweb Gold DaveF Posted January 12, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 12, 2011 Midland Railway, the number is that of a 1698 Class loco, built as a mineral engine so it is probably the correct number. Original built at Derby between September 1887 and January 1888, usually known as 2F locos. Some of the class survived to BR days. This one became 58246 and survived until June 1959 if my references are correct. Like many Midland locos they were subject to rebuilds, often with different types of boiler and boiler mountings, to ascertain whether the appearance is correct for any specific LMS period you would really need to find a photo of the loco! On this class the brake pull rods were on the outside of the loco wheels. I think the loco is from a K's kit, so it might be a "bit generic". Buhar
It's hard to tell but that model looks to have the larger wheels (5'3") whereas 3175 had 4'10" wheels.
Poor Old Bruce
The 4ft 11in locos should have brake pull rods on the outside of the wheels while the 5ft 3in ones should have them on the inside. As DaveF says, it will be somwhat generic (so don't look toooo close).
