Model Railroad Planning 2011

A nice mix from small switching layouts to large empires:

Two small HO scale L shaped shelf layouts,

GWR Branchline in OO from an expat,

Two 8'x4's (one from Ian Rice), shortly followed by how to customise published plans to fir other spaces,

Model Railroader David Popp's reborn Naugatuck Valley (N),

Modelling Iowa Interstate's west end,

Large HO 1895 layout,

Planning concentric curves with easements,

Ma & Pa in 8'x18' and on three decks,

Thompson River Canyon with good scenery tips in HO,

HO Iron Ore railroading in a 10'x11'room, with operating tips,

and a lift-up entrance instead of a duckunder or lifting flap.

Well worth the £6 from SPV.

Yes a good issue and I particularly like the CP layout and concept for getting a lot of mainline in a relatively small, by US standards, basement. Using the near canyon wall to break up the scene works well in the long shots but it would have been nice to get an operators view from the aisle to see what it looks like in the room.

Overall or wider shots of the room are always helpful for seeing how the railway works from an operators perspective.

Still resisting building a shunting plank for the US stuff but barely with articles like that one and the previous ones by Lance M. :D
