RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted March 19, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 19, 2011 CK and me returned from the Dutch Rail 2011 exhibition which took place in Houten (Utrecht) last weekend. We were fortunate to travel all the way back home by rail. Always an enjoyable experience. We left Brian Harrap who likes to galavant about Europe always stays behind to search for his kind of ‘railway oddities’! Last time he ended up in Poland. We were helping Brian exhibit one of his ZOB incarnations. This time it was ‘ZOB Hafen’ his Proto Z (P220) creation, which is always fun to play with. We were part of the European Proto 87 bi-annual convention, held alongside the huge annual show/swapmeet. It’s almost like a mini NEC in there. There have been club layouts of 50m+ shown. It’s a concept alien to us here in the UK! Layouts more familiar to us were Trevor Nunn’s delightful S gauge ’East Lynn and Nunstanton’, ‘Lowburn Park’ a third rail NE P4 layout. Other delights were Proto Club 87 a lovely French (Nord) layout , the German P87 Fremo layout but this time there was twice as much! Also the beginnings of a lovely Italian P87 layout created by Luca Possone from Milan who appears to be the only P87 modeller in all Italy! His first loco to be converted was a Hornby 08, although a tad overscale he’s done a lovely paint job on it. Here a few snaps for a start. More to follow. Brian's Proto Z scale ZOB Hafen East Lynn & Nunstanton Lowburn Park And for now a final snap. We had a good night out on the Friday in Oudewater. This is how we found CK in the morning on somebody's bike! He'd obviously had a rough night after we went back to our quarters. By the look of things he must have fallen in one of the many canals!
