adanapress
Is anyone out there working to OO-FS, or to Mr Rice's "Bathtub standards"? and if so, how are you finding it tracklaying and operations wise?
RMweb Gold martin_wynne Posted April 2, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 2, 2011 Is anyone out there working to OO-FS, or to Mr Rice's "Bathtub standards"? and if so, how are you finding it tracklaying and operations wise? The two preferred alternatives are: 00-SF (EM minus 2) -- http://00-sf.webs.com/ DOGA-Fine -- http://www.doubleoga...escaletrack.htm -- http://www.doubleoga...scalewheels.htm regards, Martin. gordon s
I'm a little confused by the question and the subsequent posting by MW, but my own layout, Eastwood Town is being built in 00-SF. The trackwork is a pleasure to build and running quality with RTR loco's through 1mm checkrail gaps is wonderful to see. Apologies if 00-FS is not the same.... Ravenser
In so far as I understand what Mr Rice was proposing (he suggested somewhere that the current NMRA 16.5mm gauge standard would be compatible with his fine OO standards, which is an idea I rather struggle with) , then it would be represented by DOGA OO Finescale ie the "package" of EM minus 1.7mm, using Gibson and Ultrascale wheels (same wheel profile as EM) set for 16.5mm gauge, and EM gauge flangeways, using C+L track gauges to build their components There are certainly modellers using that "package" including some who post here (Though I myself don't , so won't comment in detail)
RMweb Gold martin_wynne Posted April 2, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 2, 2011 Apologies if 00-FS is not the same.... Hi Gordon, Iain Rice proposed a finescale standard which he called 00-FS in one of his books, about 20 years ago. It was essentially similar to the current DOGA Fine / C&L, retaining 16.5mm gauge and increasing the back-to-back. No connection with 00-SF, which as "EM minus 2" (16.2mm gauge, no change to back-to-back) actually preceded it by about 15 years. regards, Martin. adanapress
Thank you Gentlemen, thats just the bit of clarity I needed. DOGA Fine it shall be on the new layout - a BR(E)branch, still at the planning stage.
