Hornby West Country (China made) chassis/body screw

Hiya,

Does anyone know the size of the screw that holds the body to the chassis on Hornby's China-made West Country pacific please? It's almost 8BA, but I guess it's a metric size rather than a BA size.

I'm betting either M2, M2.2 or M2.5 but that's a wide margin of error when buying screws 100 at a time!

Any ideas please?

All of the suppliers of spares say that Hornby themselves don't sell the screw as a spare.

Thanks in advance

Steve,

Such screws will be in the 'Small Parts Pack' . 'Small Parts Packs' seem to be priced between £1.00 - £3.00. For the WC/BB the Part No is X8855. You'll need to contact the spares suppliers and ask for that. It's not currently listed on East Kent's list or on Abiegail's website, but no doubt Hornby use a standard screw for that particular purpose, so it may be worthwhile buying one for another loco. The people at East Kent are usually very helpful and could probably advise.

Hi Ian,

East Kent have pointed out that it's not in the small parts pack - looking at the service sheet (ref. 249), the body/chassis screw doesn't have a star against it which would indicate that it was in the small parts pack. Hornby seem to have made a change to the way that they pack those parts too, so the valvegear screws, for example, now come with the valvegear. (Don't you love it when suppliers change their policy?)

:O(
