Gordon A
I was told some time ago that the air tanks fitted under the front buffer beam of Bachman's 08s were under size. Is this true? And if so what are the correct dimensions? Gordon A Bristol
brian daniels
Can't say how they measure up but here is a picture of them on 08676 to see if they are the same as the model.
ringo
It depends on the variation of 08, and wether it had the original concave type reservoirs, or the later rounded ones, some didnt have any as they were taken off during rebuilding and fitted with large tanks above the middle wheel set and in the old right hand exhauster box. All depended on when or if the loco was No train brake, Vac only, dual braked or air only, and who did the mods! Best to try and find a picture of the partiuclar loco you want to model. Gordon A
Many thanks chaps. Does anyone know of a scale drawing showing the air tanks in early period? Gordson A Bristol
37114
My subjective view as I don't have diagrams etc in front of me but I think the Bachmann ones are undersize, driven by the fact they have to accomodate coupling pocket underneath the buffer beam
