relaxinghobby
Another mystery purchase from the 2nd hand stall, is it for chassis building? The central cylinder and washer are made of aluminium and has slightly raised ends, at the moment I think it is to fit between two chassis side plates wheel holes to hold the two side in place whilst the cross pieces are soldered in. The central cylinder is about 14.5mm long, it might be a P4 jig?
Jol Wilkinson
Looks like some P4 track jigs that I have. There are two lengths of centre piece, a longer one for 18.83 rail gauging, the shorter for setting the checkrails.

Jol Wilkinson
Yep, it's an original Studiolith/ExactoScale frame jig. You will need two of these to build a set of frames. looks like the only difference was the length of the centre section, to suit the different application. I've now measured them and find that they have centre sections of 18.6mm and 15.9mm, but otherwise look identical.
craigwelsh
Do you have another central cylinder or is that it? If it is about 14.5mm it sounds more like an EM gauge one was the frames would be a bit narrow otherwise for most P4 applications. I have seven of the track building version of these things for building pointwork and they are very useful. I'm assuming it was a bit of a bargain to buy it not knowing what it was .
