Coombe Barton Posted November 22, 2009 Share Posted November 22, 2009 Bought the Frogmore AA13 Toad kit at Warley ( http://www.dartcasti...uk/mjt/3941.htm ), and its crying out for interior detail which needs to be put in place prior to assembly. I've done my searches online and in any books I have, and am trying to find a prototype using this list http://www.uksteam.info/gwr/wagons.htm and contacting the sites where the relevant type is preserved. However so far a blank. I do have a plan - in Jim Russell's GW Wagon Plans book (1976, Oxford) but need a little more to make it come to life. So can anyone shed any light the interior cabin arrangements of this or similar types of van with any books or magazines? The design is close on a century old and the interior would almost bound to have been modified during that time, so any information would be helpful. [Edit.] P.S. Guest dilbert Posted November 22, 2009 Share Posted November 22, 2009 There is a 7mm repro of a Toad AA13 engineering drawing (fig. 459) in the GWR Goods Wagon bible from Tourret Publishing (ISBN 0-905878-07-8). Plate 649 of the same tome has a photo of the interior of a dia AA11. (Or was it 'bastardised' by the GWR ?) . Brian R I have just found that I have a copy of the combined edition of Tourret - by David and Charles. The same diagram appears in the Russell book. But the Tourret gives extra information, so thanks very much. Interesting thing about Landore ( or Llandore ). I have one of these completed except for the castings (which I should get on and do) I was going to add the build to my OK_WB blog - perhaps I should now leave that to you I really don't see the point of doing the interior it will be so dark in there and no one will able to see it. To me such things seem like a waste of time and effort ... but each to their own. If you are going to build the toolboxes and stove from plasticard then I would have thought you need to leave it to the end. You can always attach the roof by spring wires - though I wouldn't recommend it in this case as the veranda back is (like all Toads) prone to snap off - especially when you have to force the rather chunky hand rails around it. I did consider adding some wires along the top of the roof line to strengthen it and then adding the sprung roof. But if you are into internal detail this would probably go against the whole idea - even if no one could tell without upending it. Good luck with it - actually quite a reasonable kit but by no means perfection. I have their AA3 to do. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
