Grimleygrid
I have just been looking at photos of the recently released 56040 from Hornby and was very pleased to see that the large logo was the correct size but then noticed the cantrail grilles didn't look right. Then I saw it looks very much like they have given it Loadhaul style grilles, can anyone confirm this or is it me? RMweb Gold pheaton Posted June 3, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 3, 2011 Technically correct... Hornby have modelled it on the as preserved example...not pre loadhaul... well preserved before it was stripped and scrapped! Transrail days... http://www.class56group.co.uk/wpcontent/uploads/2009/07/56040_knottingly_11th_november.jpg Preserved days...the few that there were... http://www.class56group.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/29-03-09DJ2.jpg So the model is correct it has carried the livery with those grills albeit in preservation i suspect the model was planned before the 56 group announced the scrapping of the loco

Grimleygrid
Thanks for the clarification Pheaton, I presumed it was to be modelled on BR days but now understand that it is correct for preserved days! Shame as I was planning to get one but don’t really fancy having to change the Loadhaul grilles…. Thanks EE, it wasn’t just me then!
RMweb Premium richierich Posted June 5, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 5, 2011 New tool variation, and I'd quite like one, but it ain't exactly a wallet friendly price, even from a box shifter like Rails!
HullCityB17
Got mine special delivery today direct from Hornby. I would like to add I have been patiently waiting since the Model Rail Event 2010 as I had won it in the raffle but it was not available at the time and they were out of stock at the time.... Ooops! Will try & post few pics soon. I would like to add my thanks to all at Hornby & also the Class 56 Group. I did notice that there were no additional nameplates but that for me this is ok it was a prize. Just hope everyone else has them in their models at the price the are going to be sold at when they hit the shops.
HullCityB17
Here are some quick pictures I took tonight. Sorry about the quality. Not quite used to shooting model trains yet. would have been better in natural light. - Box end. - All boxed ready to open - Just after opening &a comparison with the display card. - Side view with Cl 25 Tamworth Castle in the background & one of the two TI snowploughs. - Front 3/4 Shot - Side Shot inc. roof detail.... Yes the fans do still rotate & doors still open.
Grimleygrid
Thanks for posting the photos HC, it does look like a lovely model. I must have missed the write up where it mentioned that it was to be modelled as in preservation. I wonder how difficult it would be to change the grilles? Grids did look good in that livery!
