Shocking lack of maintenance

when the football is on, Leicester's car parking situation is diabolical... they park in our street and every street and any space they can legitimately get...

anyway, this old M reg land rover (I mean Later MXXX reg) comes along and four people normally get out for the match.... anyway one day me and dad just got back home from an errand and i said to dad 'that land rover looks a bit rough' anyway curious as we were, we went over and had a feel and a look, the wheel sils were rotting through, the back bumber and metal work around it had about rotted through, the exhaust tail box was totally shot it (and that was evident as the clag went everywhere when they went home) and technically, i think there would have been enough other faults found on it to declare it unroadworthy. the tax disc was in date, well in date, so it had not long been renewed, this indicates somewhere, someone aint doing their job properly, in this case the MOT man, cause that thing was not worthy of road use, no way was it.

should have rang the Bill and told them but its pretty pointless cause they won't do naff all anyway, and considering it was a football day no one would be available to come and look (statistically, the best time to commit a crime is when the football is on in Leicester, a report found)

Not so much 'won't do naff all', Thumper, as can't! For reasons like you mention (every ######'s shepherding the livestock at the football) or because the traffic units that remain probably also have to serve as 'Armed Response' and 'Domestic Violence Response' and quite possibly 'Little Johnny Said Boo To My Boy Response' too!

For too long traffic policing has been a poor relation and this is something that really needs put right. Look, just for one at the number of boy racers with illegal exhaust systems, blue lights showing etc, even on flaming taxis in these parts! Back in the day, the Snowdrops would have been right on these guys' cases!

Dave.

yeah, it's gone completely mad...

however, with the boy racers, Until the police get on the case.... some of those exhaust systems will knacker up the engine in the car, particularly if they are newer, so they have their own downfall, hehe....

also funny watching them bottom out on the speed humps on the local housing estate!!!!

but yes, the bill around here are very laid back about traffic offences unless it is speeding. so nevermind the fact that a good percentage of people in Leicester have un roadworthy cars and no tax or insurance!! (actually some don't even have licenses or shouldn't have by the way they drive!!!)

I've heard of worse - my father was once following a lorry over Barton Bridge when the lorry's driveshaft fell off! Fortunately my father was in a Land Rover and was able to clear it, but apparently it made rather a mess of the Mini that was following him!

I bet made a mess of the Mini! (Bet it made a 'mess' of the owners bank account too!)

You're getting old before your time!

Andsome of them will have the last laugh! Specialist, modified car insurance is normally significantly cheaper than mainstream insurance!

A friend of mine has a Rover 400 turbo - yes it looks like a grandad's car but it's f****** fast! In good nick too. He's early twenties, clean license and no claims - regular insurance was £1,400 however a modified policy with everything (coilovers, cat-back exhaust, manual boost valve) it came to £400!

Just because people choose to modify their car doesn't mean they'll be reckless drivers.
