RMweb Gold traction Posted December 30, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 30, 2011 Just as a bit of further information now the site is back up:- The difference is like chalk and cheese!!! It really has made a huge difference to how the functions operate, it's been a very long time coming but well worth the wait in my opinion. Ok V1.3 to operate a function:- 1. Select the loco and control by turning the control knob, say control knob 2. 2. Press the FUNCTION key the screen will the loco address plus "FUNC:00" 3. Type in the function number required.(0-12) 4 Press the control knob 2 to confirm, the function is now operating and the function number is switched on at the bottom of the screen. 5. To switch off the function press the FUNCTION key then the FUNCTION NUMBER and confirm by pressing the control knob 2 6. To switch off the LAST function used press the ON/OFF button. As can been seen this is way too many button presses and for momentary functions such as a blast of the horn it's a nightmare!! V1.4 function operation:- First the new menu operates as described below:- Press the FUNCTION button, pressing once will display on the screen F0-F9, press again shows F10-F19 press again shows F20-F29 press again shows OFF_F with the loco address below it(fuel simulation, for Sapphire decoder) So if we want to operate function 5 using control knob 2. 1. Turn control knob 2 to make sure that is controlling the sound chipped loco. 2. press the FUNCTION button, from the main time display showing. 3. Press number 5. 4. You can leave the screen showing the function page so to turn off function 5 just press it again. What about function 15? Press the FUNCTION button twice then number 5, to turn it off press number 5 again. What about momentary functions? Say the horn is on function 3. 1. Press FUNCTION button from the main time display showing. 2. Press and hold number 3, horn will sound let go of button 3. If while on the function page you want to control another loco....press escape goes straight to main time display page and you're back to controlling either loco. What if you are controlling loco number 5 on control knob 1 and have already been running loco 24? Before on V1.3 you would have to press loco then address 24 then confirm with pressing control knob 1, even if you had already been running it! Now on V1.4 just press the ESCAPE button, it will scroll through the last 10 locos you had been running on control knob 1, the arrows and speed graph are also saved with the loco so you can see which direction and speed it was going! Just stop pressing the ESCAPE button on the one you want to control. The extra features related to the Sapphire decoder are quite nice, it makes setting up the auto cycle function easy without having to configure CV's it's all done through Menus. The Fuel simulation is the same once you go into the programing it's again a menu where you set the initial fuel quantity. Once this is set, pressing the FUNCTION button 4 times so the display shows OFF_F you can press the ON/OFF button which will turn the fuel simulation on. The display will now show the initial quantity that you set previously. Running the loco the figure will reduce until the loco runs out at which point the loco stops and the lights will flash to say it needs re-filling. Cheers Ian

Cheers Ian Must agree Ian, and what about using the esc key to scroll through the last 10 loco's you have used whilst the unit has been powered up unstead of having to go through the loco button. This upgrade has really improved the Elite, nearly removes the need for Railmaster with the way it works now. Wonder how many Elite knockers this will silence the way it works must put it's standing up.
Matabiau
I have just heard from Hornby Customer Service that they are releasing a firmware update to v1.41 in the next week or so. This should enable the Elite to program the older Hornby DCC decoders R8215, the infamous red spot. I don't know if we shall be able to use full four-digit addresses but at least I won't have to break into my M7 to swap out the old red-dot decoder. RMweb Gold traction Posted July 12, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 12, 2012 There is also a few other tweaks that have been done as well. They didn't want to put V1.41 up until the new Elite instruction manual had been written and put on the site as well. Elite V1.4 to 1.41 changes.doc That's a list of the differences or should I say changes. Cheers Ian
Matabiau
Thanks for the detail. It looks as though this upgrade is nothing revolutionary, more of a tidy up.
