Horsetan
After 36 years (wasted?) as a semi-derelict exhibit in Switzerland, "01 180", one of the three surviving DB Br.01 Neubaukessel Pacifics has gone home, possibly with the prospect of a return to steam. Report here YouTube video here Looks like it will need a heck of a lot of work but it would then be the only working 01 Neubau - worth seeing. Guest Max Stafford
Wouldn't it be marvellous to see it on the Schiefen Ebene? I'd make a special trip to see that! Dave.
Horsetan
The only other survivors are 01 164 (at the DDM, but owned by a private individual), and 01 220 (out in the open at a park in Treuchtlingen; I think the municipal authorities own this one) - the latter appears in almost as bad a state as 01 180 - photos here Neither engine appears likely to steam again. kirtleypete
The main thing is that it's complete, even if a lot will need replacing. Peter
