Saint Johnstoun
This model has been available in various forms but as is often the case certain variations have not been released by Hornby. The old TD body featured the short firebox variety whilst the S/D China loco version features the long firebox one. No correct tender has been produced for 6200/6201 in their original form, and the valve gear is also incorrect for these two locos. It is possible to improve and alter the models to get a more accurate result. I would be interested to hear comments from other people regarding these models. Saint Johnstoun
And Princess Anne created using various Hornby parts. I wonder if anybody can work out how I did it.
RMweb Gold RedgateModels Posted August 17, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 17, 2011 is it the one that appeared in one of the mags? if so, yes
Saint Johnstoun
Nothing has been published in any of the mags in connection with my conversions - I worked out the alterations to Princess Anne myself and as for Turbomotive, it was created 25 years ago but was recently rechassied with the latest SD loco drive mechanism and given a new tender. RMweb Premium melmerby Posted August 17, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 17, 2011 Princess Royal 'corrected' by altering the valve gear by using Hornby King slide bars Is it the photo, or are those slide bars less like the GWR pattern than they should be? Saint Johnstoun
This is the correct photo for the revamped 6200 - I posted the wrong one the first time. Tender Drive body on S/d loco drive chassis with altered slide bars and straight sided tender body - the nearest one can get to the original. Note also the round buffers. Pete the Elaner
is it the one that appeared in one of the mags? if so, yes The one which appeared in the modeller was done (& still belongs to) a friend of mine. He had previously done the same conversion on an older Margate Princess...which now belongs to me
