RMweb Gold toboldlygo Posted August 19, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 19, 2011 I know the standard colour was black for shedcode plates. However the loco which I'm in the process of renumbering (T9 30117), appears in the photo's I've seen of her to have a different coloured background to the shedcode plate. Being in black & white it's difficult to tell the colour. Can someone shed (no pun intended) some light on it for me please.
RMweb Gold PhilH Posted August 19, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 19, 2011 They sometimes didn't bother to paint them if they swopped them and it was a new one, could it be simply rust coloured?
RMweb Gold toboldlygo Posted August 19, 2011 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 19, 2011 Could be as the loco was in a pretty poor state of health in the pictures.
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted August 19, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 19, 2011 I can't ever remember seeing painted Eastleigh shedplates in anything other than white on black although I only used to get across to Basingstoke on average about once every couple of months in the early 1960s (more frequently in school hols of course ). I suspect that Phil is on the money on this one.
