Guest 40-something
Here is the result of a razor saw session.... Currently the no.2 end cab front is being glued to the best shell, the other one will go on tomorrow evening. The 3D printed buffer beams I planned on using are too brittle and virtually disintegrated, so its back to the Craftsman white metal ones.
Guest 40-something
Its been quite a while since I last posted on this thread. Tonight I started working on a Hornby Sentinel which started life as a Balfour Beatty branded example... I've T-Cut the BB logos off the bodyshell and added etched side skirts to the chassis, these are produced by RT Models and I think make a huge difference to the factory chassis. Very quick and easy to install... Further plans are to drill out the bufferbeam lifting eyes and respray the loco, no idea what colour to go for! Does anyone make etched Sentinel work plates? It'll be a bit of a pain working round the printed ones!
Guest 40-something
Managed to prime the Sentinel's shell and chassis tonight... Not a very inspiring photo I must admit, though the next pic in a few days will show the final colour which is to be Tamiya Brilliant Blue. I've chosen this as I had a rattle can lying around which I didnt seem to have a use for! The first coat has been put on tonight I also renumbered my blue Hornby Class 71 to pre-tops E5021 only to then discover that this particular loco was rebuilt into a Class 74 in 1968. Last of my decals too! New decals have been ordered and I'll renumber the 71 to something more socially acceptable
Guest 40-something
More progress tonight. The final top coat has been applied and the loco placed back together again for this photo... Its a much more striking colour in daylight. I'll need to touch up bits here and there, paint (& crew) the cab interior, decal, matt varnish and weather down. Im happy with the progress so far
Flyingscotsmanfan
Looking good. The good thing about models these days is that you can take them apart and keep any of the original paint job, In this case the wasp strip buffer beam, this makes these sorts of jobs that little bit easier. That blue is a rather nice colour too, keep up the good work.
Guest 40-something
Time for an update on my Sentinel project... Its mostly finished, just some touching up to do. Once the touch ups are done, I'll weather the loco and concentrate on my next projects, a Bachmann 25 and Lima 73, both in the paintshop at the moment
