RMweb Premium Welly Posted November 13, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 13, 2011 Just back home from Spalding - it's a real cracker this year! Trengolos really captured the atmosphere of North Cornwall - it reminded me of the photo of Hole station on page 54 in ModelRail 163! Stoke Bank and Gresley Beat are real crackers, I admit that these two layouts lured me to Spalding this year. The O gauge layout with the bridge as the central feature ( Hassell Harbour Bridge ) was impressive, the baseboard for that part sits on the floor! I bumped into my mate from my local club; he has been coming every year for the past few years and remarked that this Sunday was busier than it used to be. I much prefer medium sized exhibitions than the large ones such as Warley next weekend. Hope to be at Spalding again next year.
OldNick
Back from an excellent day at Spalding. Many fine layouts crammed into the gloom of the 'tents'. Crowded until late afternoon, when it suddenly became possible to relax and enjoy the show, including, I gather, the final public showing of Penhallick. I've uploaded a few photos to my Flickr account. Too tired at the moment to filter out the poor one, so they're all there, warts and all. Here's a dozen of them to look at directly through this site...
Dan Griffin
good show again but my personal opinion is, that if they wish to continue to make a success of it, it really does need a new, bigger venue now. it has clearly outgrown springfields. MiDAS
Congratulations to organisers and exhibitors great show, in my opinion far better balanced, more interesting and better value than the Peterborough show. Keep it up folks Terry

Some nice photos Nick, but it's generally considered good form on here to put some of them up in the topic as a 'taster' to the Flickr collection, rather than just a link. Webbo
Hi folks, As one of the team who worked their backsides off to get the show ready, and kept it running to scedule. I, on behalf of the team thank you all for the favourable comments. Webbo
derekchilds
Great Show - well done to all the organisers! I travelled up from Surrey, especially to see Treneglos (had a long very interesting chat with Chris & John at the show, a pleasure to meet them both) and was not disappointed it really reflects the NCR. Also thought Stoke Summit (many memories of K+ spotting in the late 50's early 60's - even the named locos used were all the familiar south of Grantham locos seen at that time) & Gresley Beat (very colourful especially "Coronation" set) were superb. Sorry not to mentioned Penhallick, good as always, but I have seen this many times, although sorry to hear that it's being retired from the circuit. Shame we don't seem to get such quality all in one place at the same time down South. Have put in my diary already for next year.'s visit. I hope to post some details/images of my "Westhaven" layout (BR(S) in southern Dorset - terminus of a branch from mainline between Crewkerne/Axminster) when it is presentable enough to share with you experts!
