mophead
Hello I've recently bought a new Bachmann class 03 and I'm wondering if there are any Heavy duty industrial buffers available? As I'm going to have the loco in industrial use on my shunting layout Many thanks Mophead
halfwit
Mophead, it would have been quite unusual for an 03 to have had its buffers replaced judging by photographic evidence. After all, if it aint broke... The RT buffers are lovely castings based on an example from a Stewarts and Lloyds loco. They were, AFAIK, fitted to steam locos used for heavy shunting at their steelworks. I have a set but have yet to build a loco to fit them to... Kenton
I have a set but have yet to build a loco to fit them to... That's the best excuse I've heard yet for buying yet another kit. "You see, I had these spare buffers ..."
smokebox
Reminds me of an old joke. A tramp knocks on a door. When the lady of the house appears the tramp says "Excuse me madam, could you sew me a shirt onto this button" Sorry, I know it's awful.
Adam
You know, I have two or three sets of buffers like that. Alan Gibson do some nice sprung buffers with a scale 24" head, ref 4914. Adam
Sam Moss
One example of class 03's getting ###### buffers is D2138. It recieved large round ones relacing its oval set during use by the NCB at PyeHill Colliery. Its since recieved its oval set back during preservation.
