Whitlingham Junction is where the Cromer / Sheringham line leaves the Norwich - Great Yarmouth line, this is now controlled by Trowse Swingbridge

The top and tail "unit replacement" 47s were the attraction for this visit.

the yard to the left is the former whitlingham station goods yard, which in later years became a blue circle cement depot, before final closure, I rowed down at whitlingham for my school in the late seventies, at this time the former station footbridge as well as the box were still in situ all though the timber station platforms were long gone.

Nice shot Tim, I think, as you say, the box was replaced by a piece of flat ground :no2:

I've always fancied a signal box in the garden, make a nice modelling room if one had the space and the money for transport, I do hope the others along the Breckland line will be saved if practical to move them. Although as you say, a flat piece of ground is easier to look after :)
