dave flint
This has probably been discussed before - but a search on here throws up little, and stuff on Google seems to be about 4 years old...... I've had a trip to Blackpool, and want to do a mini model of some of the Blackpool classic trams, using the Corgi Balloons and Railcoaches. t looks straightforward to put in a Bachmann PCC car chassis, but there seems to be a kit mentioned of pewter spacers to get it to fit correctly. Is it still available, or could I just drop in some wooden blocks of the right size ? Any help that goes further than the exisitng "how tos" would be appreciated, as would pointers to anyone supplying relevant products !
Wayne Rite
ABS do (or did?) a motorising kit for the Blackpool Balloons and Railcoach, one of them came into my possesion recently and it looks pretty straight forward to build and convert. The Kit is No. R597 (33) and was made by ABS Models of 39 Napier road Poole Dorset but the instructions are by Keykits of Weymouth Tel 01305 772687 or info@keykits.net might worth giving them a call or email. Happy Modelling.
Red Devil
You may have seen this, http://www.gordonstrams.net/MCTpage2.htm Blackpool cars are not really my thing, but I understand that you can use a Halling 'C' Mech (all wheel drive and pick up) in conjunction with a resin PC trams lower saloon seat casting. If I remember correctly the ABS motorising kit may be a bit 'dated' in it's design and materials. Possibly the favourite is to have a word with John at East Lancs Model Tramway Supplies to see what is currently available in adaptor parts etc http://homepages.tesco.net/j.d.whitehouse2/
PLD
It was discussed a few times on the previous version of the forum (which is why you may not have picked them up in a search)... a couple of threads you may find useful are: newbie to tramway modelling Motorising Corgi Trams Paul
